1940 - The Golden Jubilee of the Company

The Company helps with the war effort by assisting the Fire Brigade and AFC.
21st March The 3rd Enfield win the Battalion Platoon Drill competition.
20th April Daily Telegraph Shield competition: 1st - 3rd Enfield (172), 2nd - 62 London (169), 3rd - 1st New Barnet (160). The venue is the HAC Drill House, Armiary House, City Road, Finsbury EC. The judge is the Brigade Secretary.
5th May 50th annual Inspection and Display at Chase Side School. Inspecting Officer: Major Lewis DSO, MC. New Company Colours were presented by relatives of Mr T R Plowman.
August Frank Head gets married at Christ Church.

1941

8th January British Commander and Boy Scout founder Lord Robert Baden Powell dies.
19th January NCOs parade to the Parish Church for a memorial service to Lord Baden Powell.
August Camp was held with London District at Eton playing fields.

1943 - The Diamond Jubilee of the Boys' Brigade

Officers and NCOs
17th March Battalion Drill competition: The 3rd Enfield beat the 1st by 1 1/2 points.
8th May The 3rd Enfield win the Daily Telegraph Shield for the ninth time, by a margin of 1 point at the Royal Albert Hall Display. The Shield is presented by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

12th May Company Display, Chase Side School: The Inspecting Officer is Alan Ridge.
16th October To mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Boys' Brigade, His Majesty the King, accompanied by the Queen and Princess Elizabeth, inspected a contingent of the Brigade in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle. The 3rd Enfield is represented as the winners of the Daily Telegraph Shield.

1944

27th March The Company wins the Battalion Bugle Band competition: 1st - 3rd Enfield (172), 2nd - 1st Enfield (159).
May The Company provides an ambulance squad for the Royal Albert Hall Display.

January Frank Head retires as Captain of the Company, and William Pinner takes over.
14th April Robert Lionel Plowman (Company Treasurer) passes away suddenly.
May The end of World War II.
16th May The Company Display is held at Chase Side School.
18th May Company performs slow time drill at the Royal Albert Hall Display.

11th August The first post-war camp is held at Whitecliffe Bay with the 2nd and 7th Enfield.
13th October The 3rd Enfield Parents Committee hold a social event.
December The Company wins the Battalion Squad Drill competition.

January The Company wins the Battalion Ambulance competition.
3rd-4th May The 3rd Enfield's Bugle Band wins a Band competition at the Royal Albert Hall Display.

17th-24th August The Company camps with the 1st Barnet at Whitecliffe Bay. The Company appears in the Portsmouth Evening News (23rd August - Raiding the Cookhouse).

8th October The Rev Ebenezer Rees retires as Minister of Christ Church, after 30 years of service. The Rev Leonard Towers succeeds him.
December The Company wins the Squad Drill competition.

January The Company wins the Ambulance competition.
14th February The Company wins the PT competition.
April The 3rd Enfield handicraft classes start toy making and repairing classes for the Baker Street Day Nursery. This activity was reported in the Evening Star and the Brigade Gazette.
May The 3rd Enfield put on a remarkable item at the Royal Albert Hall Display, called the Sixteen Squad, in which a squad of sixteen young athletes carrying sparkling wands, gave an intricate figure marching display.

June The Company helps to repair toys for children of the local nursery, shown in the picture with Captain Bob Pinner.

16th-23rd August The Summer Camp is held at Whitecliffe Bay.
October An attempt is made to destroy the Headquarters of the 3rd Enfield, the Steadfast Hut, by fire. The Headquarters were saved by the prompt action of the handicraft class of the Clay Hill Women's Institute.
November The Bandmaster of the 3rd Enfield, Mr Pelgrum, passes away suddenly.
December The Company wins the Squad Drill competition.

17th May Diamond Jubilee session Whit Monday Inspection and Sports: The Jubilee Spoon is presented.
May Ernest Ridge dies at the age of 73. Alan Ridge dies on the 21st May.
November The 3rd Enfield Old Boys Association is started, with meetings every Thursday at the Steadfast Hut.

From 24th to 31st July, members of the 3rd Enfield joined with the 10th Enfield Boys' Brigade and 1st Winchmore Hill Girls' Brigade for our summer camp, which was held in Beeston Regis, Norfolk.
