The R.L. Plowman Trophy (Plowman Junior Trophy)

Robert Lionel Plowman was the younger brother of the famous Captain of the 3rd Enfield, Thomas Room Plowman. He enrolled as an Officer in the Company in 1903 and served in the Company for many years, and he will be remembered for training the wand squad at the Royal Albert Hall Display in 1923. He had three sons and two daughters when he died in 1945 at the age of 66. As a token of appreciation for the work he had done in the Company, a trophy called the R.L. Plowman Trophy was presented.

It is awarded to a Company Section (11 to 15 year old) Boy, who in the opinion of his Company/Senior Section comrades, has done most for the Company. The voting is done by a secret ballot. The trophy is commonly referred to as the Plowman Junior Cup.

The Elsie Hart Centenary Cup

The Elsie Hart Centenary Cup is a former trophy in the Company which was discovered in 2010, at which time the Officers decided to present it under new criteria.

Elsie Hart was a long-time member of Christ Church URC, and was always a great supporter of both the Church and the Company. It was decided that the "new" trophy should be presented for dedication and commitment to the Company, based on a new attendance competition. The trophy is open to all Boys in the Company - Anchor Boys, Junior Section, Company Section and Seniors - and they receive points for attending different events - 1 point for a Monday night, 5 points for a competition, 10 points for a Church Parade and 15 points for a Battalion Parade. The Boy with the highest percentage of points out of what they could possibly have achieved receives the trophy.

The Frank Head Trophy

Frank William Head was born on the 8th December 1903, and went to Enfield Grammar School. He joined the Company in 1915 as a Boy and later became an Officer in the Company. Then in June 1934 he left the district, and as a token of appreciation for all the work he had done for the Company he was presented with a silver cigarette box. In his new home he took up a commission in the 11th West Kent Boys' Brigade Company, but he only stayed for a small amount of time and soon returned to Enfield and the 3rd Enfield Company. Then in November 1935, Frank became Captain of the 3rd Enfield. For ten years he was Captain and guided it through its Golden Jubilee (1939/40) and the war years. He was able to score many notable successes including two Daily Telegraph Shield victories - 1940 and 1943, and winning the Bergin Victory Cup. He finally left the Company in 1945, and he was presented with a barometer as a token of respect for the work he had done for the Company, especially during the war years.

On the 3rd September 1948, he became Captain of the 1st New Barnet Company. During his term he led them to five victories in the Daily Telegraph Shield Competition (1951, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956), often against the 1st Enfield Company. He left the Company in June 1956 and the 1st Barnet never won the Daily Telegraph Shield for drill again. In March 1963 Frank was the judge for the qualifying round of the Daily Telegraph Shield. Frank died on the 4th January 1970 at Newmarket General Hospital at the age of 66 following an illness, the beginnings of which go back a number of years. Frank spent his last days at Cheveley, Newmarket.

He was an outstanding man who had devoted the main part of his life to the service of young people, and especially Boys, becoming to them not only Captain and friend but father and guide. In his business he was a well loved secretary and for 15 years he was the secretary of the Association of Photographic Finishers. The Boys of the Company have often been asked to help out at the Annual Dinner of the Wholesale Photographic Finishers Societies, usually held every November. In 1971, at one of these social functions a trophy was presented to the Company, it was engraved "The Frank Head Trophy". The Officers of the Company proposed the rules on which this trophy should be presented annually - "for general efficiency in Company work and interests with a special emphasis on drill". Since 1971 the trophy has been awarded annually with strict compliance of the rule above.

The Cecil Brett Shield

Mr Cecil Brett was born in 1894. He was born in Enfield and, although he moved away in later life, he never lost his love of Enfield and all his association with it, particularly the 3rd Enfield Boys' Brigade Company. He was in the Company in the first decade of the twentieth Century, a time when the 3rd Enfield was one of the most famous Companies in the Brigade, under Captain T.R. Plowman. The Company were London District drill champions, winning the Meares Colours in 1905, the very first Daily Telegraph Shield in 1906 and again in 1907 (in front of General Baden-Powell). Cecil Brett took part in all three of these events. Cecil enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers before the outbreak of the Great War, and saw war service in France and Belgium. Cecil spent his final years with his wife Florence in Wareham, where he was an honourary member of the 1st Wareham. He died on the 12th January 1982, one month short of his 88th birthday. In memory of Cecil Brett a shield was presented to the Company by Mrs Barbara Charles, daughter of Cecil Brett, in the centenary year of the Boys' Brigade. It is presented to the Boy who in the opinion of the Officers has done the most for the Church in the past year.
