Unite is a weekend camp featuring a semi-structured programme throughout the weekend, primarily aimed at 11 to 18 year olds. It is a great opportunity to enjoy a range of different activities, explore the Christian faith and meet other people from around the region.

Throughout the weekend there were activities including football, archery, hockey, rounders, American football, strong person competitions, a quiz, a campfire and much more. There were times of worship where everyone came together in the Marquee (the main venue). The speaker was Jim Sutton, who is one of the pastors of Balham Baptist Church in south west London. He spoke on the theme "Faith, Hope and Love", based on 1 Corinthians 13:13.

Each group at Unite was part of one of three 'villages': red, blue and yellow, each led by two Village Leaders. The villages competed against each other throughout Unite to earn points for taking part in activities and winning competitions, with the aim of being named the 'best village' during the Unite awards ceremony at the end of the weekend. The winners this year were the blue village, which the 3rd Enfield group was a part of!

Unite 2018 was a brilliant weekend and we thank all those who were involved in organising and running it. We're already looking forward to next year's event!

The Enfield Battalion float was led by the 10th Enfield's minibus which had been decorated with lights, was playing Christmas music and was pulling their trailer, which was decorated as Santa's sleigh. The young people all had glowsticks and battery powered lights to light themselves up and we also had the BB's giant inflatable balloon and sail flags - our float certainly made an impression!

We had a great time at the parade and it was a good opportunity to publicise the BB name, with many spectators watching on. After the parade had finished there was a fireworks display to close the event.

Over the last few weeks our Summer Programme has been taking place on Monday evenings, where we take advantage of the lighter evenings and (usually) better weather to go out and about a bit more.

All of our age groups have had the opportunity to do some outdoor games on Chase Green and in the church grounds, including football, team games and more.

On Monday 19th June, the Company Section and Seniors enjoyed a pizza and games evening, which included Xbox, table tennis and pool.

The following week, all sections went to Jungle Falls Adventure Golf. We had fun going around the 18 hole course, which is a part of Trent Park Golf Club.

Most recently, on Monday 3rd July, all sections went for an evening at Jump In Trampoline Park and had a great evening on the trampolines, air bags and foam pit!

Our final meeting of the session takes place on Monday 10th July, which will be our Summer BBQ. It is open to boys in all sections as well as their families.

Check out some photos from the last couple of weeks below!

London District Juniors 100 Camp & Fun Day

Added 5th July 2017 by Tom Boorman

On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June, 8 members of the 3rd Enfield joined around 400 others from around London District for a Juniors 100 Camp & Fun Day at Scout Park, Haringey.

The Junior Section was originally formed as the Boy Reserves in 1917, before becoming known as the Life Boys and later Junior Section.

During the day on Saturday those present got the chance to try a wide range of activities, including It's a Knockout team challenges, archery, climbing wall, rifle shooting, outdoor laser tag, inflatables, football and lots more. Later in the afternoon everyone came together for a celebration at the main stage where Tom Elliott, who is a Christian speaker and magician, spoke to us.

Following the departure of the day guests, the evening activities included a camp fire and the chance to toast some marshmallows, followed by a disco and film to finish the day.

On Sunday there was an opportunity for the young people to carry on doing activities that they didn't get a chance to do the previous day. There was also a time of worship, including puppets and lots of singing, led by members of the 4th Bromley.

It was a fantastic weekend which brought many people from across the District together to celebrate Juniors 100 - huge thanks to all of the volunteers who made it all possible!

The Anchors and Juniors did events including a sprint, egg and spoon race, shuttle run, a relay, long jump, cricket ball throw and javball. Unite 2017

Added 20th June 2017 by Tom Boorman

Between Friday 2nd and Saturday 4th June, a group from the 3rd Enfield joined with over 200 young people and leaders from across England & Wales for Unite at Felden Lodge.

Unite is aimed primarily at young people aged 11 to 18, and is a great opportunity for people to meet, explore their faith and enjoy a range of activities together, through a semi-structured programme which runs over the duration of the event.

Throughout the weekend there was a packed programme of activities including football, archery, rounders, American football, inflatable bungee run, sumo suits, laser tag, a camp fire, a quiz and much more. There were times of worship where everyone came together in the Marquee, as well as music workshop and a praise party. There were also workshops for leaders to aid them with their work in their groups, and an afternoon tea.

The entertainment on Saturday evening included the opportunity to have a go at some Bushtucker Trials, a Lip Sync Battle - which featured several memorable performances - and a disco which included Unite tattoos, a photo booth and the chance to make some mocktails!

Each group at Unite was part of one of three 'villages': red, blue and yellow, with the 3rd Enfield being a part of the blue village. Each village was led by two village leaders. They competed against each other throughout Unite to earn points for taking part in activities and winning competitions, with the aim of being named the 'best village' during the Unite awards ceremony at the end of the weekend. The winners this time were the yellow village - well done to them!

There were also various awards given to individuals, and it was great to see Michael from the 3rd given an award for the best blue villager in the 11 to 14 age group!

Unite was a fantastic weekend which 'united' people from all sorts of different backgrounds and areas. Our thanks to all those who were involved in organising and running the event.

Waltham Walk 2017

Added 23rd May 2017 by Tom Boorman

On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st May, the 3rd Enfield entered a staff team into the Waltham Walk.

The Waltham Walk is a 26 mile expedition in the Essex countryside. The team, made up of Tom Boorman and Steven Peck, took part in the 'Supervets' event, where teams had to carry all of the equipment and food they required throughout.

The event started at Pleshey Village Hall, with nine checkpoints along the way on the first day. At each checkpoint the grid reference of the next checkpoint was given, and there was also a team challenge to take part in - some of them puzzles, some physical, including one where teams had to get into a very cold river!

The overnight camp was at Skreens Park Activity Centre, with teams having to put up their tents and cook their meals that evening and the following morning. After a very early start the next morning there were four more checkpoints, with the event finishing at Mountnessing Village Hall.

The Supervets event was extremely competitive and although Tom and Steve came fourth out of the four finishing teams, the points margin between the top four was quite small. During the weekend they took somewhere in the region of 65,000 steps each!

We'd like to say a big thank you to those who have sponsored Tom and Steve for taking part - we really appreciate your support! If you'd like to sponsor us there is still time - just visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/3rdenfieldww2017 to donate online or speak to Tom. All of the money raised will go towards supporting the work of the 3rd Enfield.

Well done also to Marcus, who scored the second highest individual score in the competition. Both he and the team will receive medals from London District, which will be presented at our Display on 22nd May.

This was followed by fun events including parachute games for the Anchors, quick cricket for the Juniors and Company Section, and more.

The 3rd Enfield had a team in the Company Section race, with Frankie and Josef coming joint first in the individual race, also meaning we were the overall winners of the team event. Well done boys!
